CASCO insurance
CASCO is a voluntary type of insurance that covers costs related to vehicle damage or destruction and usually includes roadside assistance services. We offer CASCO for vehicles up to 20 years old, and the insurance coverage area is Europe, except for Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kazakhstan. Although CASCO is voluntary, it is usually mandatory for leased vehicles. It is important to note that CASCO does not replace Motor Third Party Liability Insurance (MTPL).
We always put our customers first. With BTA insurance, you can choose the right coverage and pay only for what you really need. Additionally, we offer several coverages with zero deductible, such as glass breakage, animal collision, loss of keys, or theft. Insurance for electric and hybrid vehicles also includes charger protection. Factory-installed vehicle accessories are always insured, and accessories not installed in the factory are insured up to 1300€. Warranty vehicle repairs are always carried out at the brand's official service centers. Roadside assistance is always included for passenger and cargo vehicles. In addition, we offer family member driving practice coverage, so you can practice with peace of mind.
To qualify for BTA Casco insurance, the vehicle must be equipped with factory-installed, functioning anti-theft security systems, and the number of keys must match the factory specifications.
If necessary, we may request photos of the vehicle to verify its condition. These photos must be submitted before the start of the insurance period. BTA reserves the right to impose a higher deductible if the photos are not submitted on time. However, no higher deductible will be applied if the photos are submitted before the occurrence of any insured event. We will send you an email with instructions and a link, making it easy to take photos with your phone.

MTPL insurance
MTPL (Motor Third Party Liability) insurance is a mandatory liability insurance, without which a vehicle cannot be used on the road. In the event of a traffic accident, the insurer covers the damages caused by the at-fault driver to the victim, ensuring that the person responsible for the accident does not have to personally pay for the damages.
In Estonia, you are not required to carry the MTPL insurance policy with you while driving.
It is important to remember that if the MTPL policy specifies the vehicle's use as a standard passenger vehicle, it cannot be used for activities that require special conditions, such as courier, taxi, or rental services.
The Green Card is an international document that proves the existence of MTPL insurance when traveling abroad. If you are traveling from Estonia to countries in the European Economic Area (including the European Union) or Switzerland, you only need to carry your standard MTPL insurance policy. However, if you are traveling outside the European Economic Area, you must carry a Green Card that serves as proof of MTPL insurance. The Green Card is issued free of charge for the duration of the policy's validity.
You can find detailed information about all Green Card countries and the related MTPL rules on the Council of Bureaux website, using the map provided.
As of June 1, 2023, the Green Card issued for an Estonian vehicle is no longer valid in Russia and Belarus. Therefore, starting from June 1, 2023, you will need to purchase specific border insurance when crossing the border into these countries.

Every insurance provider has its own methodology for calculating the exact insurance premium, both for CASCO insurance and mandatory motor insurance (MTPL). The size of the premium depends on factors such as the insurance history of the owner or responsible user, information obtained from the population register, the vehicle's technical specifications, its usage, and many other factors. For CASCO insurance, the extent of coverage also significantly influences the premium—the broader the coverage, the higher the premium. Typically, premiums increase the following year after an insurance claim. Conversely, premiums may decrease if no claims were made during the previous period. The motor insurance history is visible to all participants in the insurance market, so claims made with one insurance company can affect your CASCO and motor insurance premiums with another insurer as well.
Details of claims compensated under motor insurance and their amounts can be viewed on the Estonian Motor Insurance Bureau's website LKF.

The insurance contract is signed with the assumption that it will remain valid throughout the entire insurance period, but there are exceptions where the contract can be terminated prematurely, such as:
• In the event of the vehicle's destruction or theft;
• If the vehicle cannot be used for more than a month due to technical reasons;
• When the vehicle is removed from the register;
• Upon the termination of the leasing agreement if the vehicle is returned to the lessor.
In the case of early termination of a motor insurance contract, an administrative fee of up to 3€ will be deducted from the prepaid insurance premium.
It's important to remember that only the policyholder or the new person responsible for the insurance can cancel the motor insurance policy. For example, if the vehicle has been sold and re-registered in the name of the new owner in the traffic register, the previous owner can no longer cancel the policy, as all rights and obligations immediately transfer to the new owner.
To cancel the contract, please send a request to bta@bta.ee, including the following information:
• First and last name;
• Personal identification code;
• Contact details;
• Contract termination date and reason;
• Name and bank account number of the recipient of the refunded insurance premium.
When changing the vehicle's usage, it's important to consider the terms of the current insurance policy. For example, if the vehicle was initially insured for regular use but later started being used for providing taxi services, the insurance policy must be updated to reflect the new usage.

If you have a claims history certificate from another EU country, please send it to us at bta@bta.ee. We will take this information into account when preparing your casco and Motor insurance quote.
Value-added tax (VAT) is not included in the compensation amount to the extent that the recipient is entitled to reclaim, offset, or deduct it from the state. Private customers are compensated for losses including VAT. If a legal entity is VAT-registered, we will issue a guarantee letter to the property owner based on the repair company's estimate (or to the responsible user in the case of leased property). In this case, repair costs are calculated without VAT, as the VAT can be reclaimed from the state and does not count towards the compensation amount.
We offer several payment options to help you find the solution that best suits your needs. For example, the following options are available:
Payment in the self-service portal
When signing the contract in the self-service portal, you can choose whether to pay in one installment or monthly—the price remains the same. If you choose monthly payments, you will need to enter your bank card details, after which payments will be automatically deducted from the card on the specified date under a recurring payment agreement. You can read more about the recurring payment agreement here.
Payment via payment link
By contacting our customer service at +372 5 68 68 668, we can send you a payment link with all the necessary information pre-filled, making the payment process simple and convenient.
Please note that in this case, we use Kevin, an innovative payment solution that enables businesses to offer fast and secure payments directly through banks, bypassing traditional card payment intermediaries. Kevin ensures real-time transfers and lower transaction fees.
Payment through an e-invoice standing order
We offer the option to set up an e-invoice standing order at your bank, a quick and convenient solution for regular payments. In this case, e-invoices will be sent directly to your bank, and the payments will be automatically deducted from your account on the specified date.
